April 17th, 2012: Torn Jeans And Torn Hearts

Wet Seal white V-neck, vintage pearls (Dan's Antiques in Augusta, WV), Forever 21 80's vest (White Oak Consignment Shop in Augusta, WV), brown belt, JC Penney's, white bracelet (Goodwill), brown bracelet (local vendor), Fioni tan high heels

Torn jeans are certainly my favorite thing about fashion.  You can make them look classy, dressy, punkish, hip, whatever you want.  My dad always teases me when I walk out the door when I wear them and says, "I thought we could afford you jeans."
You see, in his day, if you wore torn jeans, you were considered poor because you couldn't afford new jeans.  That's another reason why I love torn jeans because since they are IN style, people that can't afford new jeans can look stylish as well without having to worry about patching up their jeans.  Jeans are so wonderful, I'll admit.  They were the greatest invention ever made.  And there are so many kinds as well!  Boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, boot cut jeans, flaired jeans, wide leg jeans, high waist jeans!  When I outgrow them length-wise, I just have my grandma cut them, and VOILA!  You have shorts!
So I tip my hat to Levi Strauss for making a wonderful thing such as jeans that everyone can wear, boys and girls, young or old, and never have to worry about not fitting in.

"I have often said that I wish I had invented blue jeans: the most spectacular, the most practical, the most relaxed and nonchalant. They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes."- Yves Saint Lawerence
