April 25th, 2012: Whoa, Tight!

Hand-me-down jacket, JC Penney's white button-up shirt, pink belt, cut-off jean shorts,
George lined tights, Charles Davis black high heels

One thing that I have noticed that really irritates me is that tights are the greatest things to complete
an outfit, but they tear so easily!  Sure, nail polish works to an extent, but eventually, they're going to tear all the way through.  There's no way to repair runs.  I'm constantly buying new tights to wear because I love them so much, but they get runs after so many times.  But there are ways to prevent them and I'm so excited when I buy new ones that I can actually possibly get to keep my tights longer than 6 wears!  *The thicker the tights, the least likely it will tear.

Hand wash your tights.  I have been doing this and it does help.   Wash them after a few wears.  Don't wash them every time but also don't the thing and never wash them.  Just wash them after 2 or 3 wears.  One person said they soak them in fabric softener to give them that smooth feel as well as preventing the runs.

The nail polish trick does work, but I know that colored tights and nail polish don't go together very well sometimes.  So, a different approach is to spray your tights with hairspray.  Warning: It does make them feel stiffer.

One person said to put them in the freezer.  Apparently it stiffens the fibers in the tights.  Never heard of this before, but I'll have to try and see if it works.

Hope this helps!  I know I'll be trying!
